Swordsworn rules

hERE YOU CAN FIND A LIST OF OUR MOST IMPORTANT RULES. FOR A MORE DETAILED SET OF TERMS, PLEASE CHECK OUT THE "TERMS OF SERVICE" PAGE. THE RULES LISTED HERE ARE CONTINUOUSLY SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS THE SITE EVOLVES.

SITE REQUIREMENTS.

• all SWORDSWORN.COM users and community members must be 18 years of age or older.
• this is non-negotiable: if you are found to be under the age of eighteen you will face disciplinary action. you may be subjected to account termination and character voiding.
• users knowingly transferring characters or items to individuals under eighteen may be subjected to the same punishments.
• creating multiple accounts to ban evade or gain an unfair advantage over the site's marketplace and items is subject to disciplinary action.

be kind.

• any form of bigotry or discrimination, including but not limited to racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, et cetera is strictly against the rules. hate speech is grounds for immediate punishment and termination. political and / or religious beliefs do not excuse you from spreading hateful rhetoric!
• please be kind and respectful to other members of the swordsworn community.
• bullying, harassment, guilt-tripping, callouts, and other behavior designed to create a hostile environment is not allowed.
• if you feel another user is targeting you or has broken the rules, do not mini-mod or start drama -- please contact one of the site moderators through reports or on discord with more information.
• you must respect the identities and pronouns of other users and their characters.
• while swearing is allowed, refrain from directing it at others for any hateful reasons, and respect that someone may not wish to hear such things.
• you may not use slurs or direct them at other people.
• consider using tone tags if you feel the intent of your message may not be clear -- it can be hard to tell if you're joking over text, etc!

content limitations.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.

• the use of ai-generated artwork, writing, etc is strictly banned throughout the swordsworn community. we are an arpg designed to celebrate and uplift artists: ai does the opposite.
• if you are discovered to make use of generative ai for creating your content, this is grounds for termination, especially  if you are found to be lying about it and attempting to pass it off as legitimate.
• you may not use any content on swordsworn.com, the swordsworn discord server, or the swordsworn toyhouse world for any manner of ai scraping or feeding.

BANNED CONTENT.

• any content promoting / containing incestuous or pedophilic themes, whether real or fictional is strictly prohibited, and any users sharing such content will face termination. this includes loli / shotacon, ageplay, ddlg, etc.
• content promoting / containing rape or sexual assault, bestiality,  zoophilia, fetish content, etc. is also strictly prohibited.

SENSITIVE CONTENT.

• while we understand dark themes may be present within a character's backstory, this does not mean that these themes need to be glorified and promoted. if you feel your character's lore and story contains triggering content, please warn and spoil for it appropriately when utilizing or discussing them in any public capacity.
• non-sexual artistic nudity and similar are allowed, but again, please spoiler tag.
• while the swordsworn community is 18+, it is not an nsfw-based space. any and all sexual content must be kept in the appropriate channel within the discord server, which you may request the role access for from a mod. please abide by its pinned rules.
• blood and violence, as well as themes of death, bodily harm, mentions of suicide, mild gore, drugs, mild body horror, and more may be present within swordsworn. please be sure to curate your experience if you are bothered by any of these topics!
• eye gore is not permitted.

creative content.

• you must have permission to post any content you submit on the swordsworn website, toyhouse, or discord server. if you are uploading artwork or writing that is not your own, it must be credited fully and appropriately. this includes the use of bases and templates. you may not add onto pre-existing artwork that is not your own without permission from the original artist.
• plagiarizing or tracing artwork, designs, et cetera is subject to disciplinary action and deletion.
• user content must be swordsworn-focused and contain aspects of the world, characters, npcs, etc. aside from in specialized spaces within the discord channel, which are clearly marked. prompt entries must include a swordsworn character or npc unless otherwise stated.

SALES AND TRADES.

• slots and characters have their resale permissions clearly marked: please be sure to check these before engaging in any commerce.
• slots obtained for free may not be resold for real money, but may be traded or gifted.
• any items or slots purchased using ingots may be resold for the real-world equivalent of their ingot value ( 10 ING = $1 USD )
• designs may not be sold for more than their base value + added art value.
• users may freely trade and sell anything provided it follows the above rules.
• in order to be logged appropriately, swordsworn characters, slots, items, etc. must be traded here on swordsworn.com, meaning both the sender and recipient must have an active account.
• if you need help with your trade, please don't hesitate to contact staff.

CHARACTER RULES.

OWNERSHIP.

• you may not "co-own" a character, all characters must have a single owner for masterlisting and site purposes.
• stolen designs and infringement on others' property will be met with disciplinary action.
• you may use any of your characters to participate in site activities such as prompts, or roleplay in the discord, etc.

CREATION GUIDELINES.

• you must have a MYO slot ( "ritual card" ) in order to create a swordsworn. don't worry, there are many different ways to acquire them!
• please look at pages such as the starter guide, myo guides, and trait sheets for more information on how to design and create a swordsworn.
• as for "canon-inspired characters", we expect users to follow the same guidelines as outlined on toyhou.se: "we allow canon-inspired characters specifically where it's clear they're an original character who has been inspired by the canon content, rather than AU fanart and fanfic of a canon character. as long as your character has their own name, and a profile/design that reflects they're intended to be individual from the canon character and are not literally the canon character, they should be fine to upload. adding some background to the character's profile to explain who they are will help a lot to ensure they don't get mixed up."
• if a mod feels that your character infringes upon the above rule and is deemed to be too similar to an existing ip, appearing to be 'plagiarized' or 'copied' rather than inspired by, your character will be hidden and we will discuss with you how to rework them to be visually and legally distinct.
• you may freely make non-swordsworn au's or alternate verses of your characters to use in other settings or your own private works, as long as the swordsworn-specific one stays within universe.
• crossbreeds with affiliated species or arpg's are always allowed. if you would like to crossbreed with a species or group that is not on the affiliate list, please discuss it with a mod.
• you may redesign a character provided it retains enough similarity to its original version, as outlined in our full redesign rules. redesigns will be approved on a case-by-case basis.

VOIDING CHARACTERS.

• characters may be voided by the mod team if they are determined to be made with the intent of hate speech or prohibited materials.
• if you wish to voluntarily void a character that you currently own, please speak to a mod about it, and it will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
• we encourage users to first offer to return a character to a previous owner or allow the original designer to re-obtain it.
• you are always welcome to sell, trade, or gift the design to another user, surrender them to a mod, or request them to be raffled or given away to a new owner.
